BabyDan Y-Spindles makes it not only possible but also easy to mount a safety gate up against a round pole or spindle. Please note that the Y spindles will only work with the pressure fitting gates NOT the screw fitting gates.

    They look entirely appropriate for my needs (going against metal bannister rails on one side, wall the other) but I have not yet used the stairgate

    I purchased this product for my baby gate that I have placed at the bottom of my stairs, I have a spindle stair case so the flat parts that come with the gate where no good as it kept falling off, the Y spindles fitting kit fit the large post at the bottom of my stairs as well as the smaller spindles and the gate now stays in place.
