Snuza Halo Baby Breathing Monitor technology offers a new generation of portable baby breathing monitor that alerts if there is irregularity in your baby breathing pattern. It means you have peace of mind knowing that you can just clip the Snuza Halo onto baby's nappy anytime, anywhere.
Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and ergonomically designed to easily fit comfortably on your baby's nappy, the Snuza Halo is a monitoring device incorporating leading edge sensing technology. If your baby were to stop breathing for 15 seconds, Snuza Halo will issue a stimulus to stir your baby's out of inactivity. If, after 5 more seconds breathing has not resumed, the device will sound an alarm to alert you to act.

Overall views on the product -
When first asked to try the new Snuza product I was very intrigued. We had previously looked into buying the Angelcare baby monitor which has the breathing sensor in a mat you place under the baby''s sheet in the cot. We had looked at buying a product like this as we are first time parents and our main worry was "what if he stops breathing in the middle of the night and it''s too late to help
him by the time we wake up" However after taking NCT antenatal classes our teacher pointed out that it''s not just at night you need to be aware of this problem as you cannot sit and watch your baby all day in your normal day to day life. The positive thing that the Snuza product had over the Angel care monitor was that it was portable. I personally found this great when testing, it was nice to know when in the car and unable to see your baby clearly all the time you had peace of mind that if anything happened you would know straight away. On first look the product does look quite big for a new born to wear on the front of his nappy, however it was easy to attach and didn''t seem to bother him at all (even when he wore it for a long time in the day) and was very discreet under his clothes. I did find the self test at the beginning rather fast to watch but not as bothered when you could see
the product as working fine when shown by the green flashing light throughout use. The alarm was very distinct and loud so you couldn''t miss it even if you were in a different room. Turning off the product when the alarm was sounding wasn''t as easy but I think if your baby had stopped breathing that may be less important to you. The vibrating feature to stimulate breathing after 15 seconds was such a reassuring feature especially in a very young newborn, as new parents we were aware that baby''s sometimes forget to breath, this we thought would just help to remind him if this was to happen. Lastly if you did experience any abnormalities in your baby''s breathing the product even kept track of how many times it had happened.
The not such good points we found -
The only thing we found that worried us was when we heard the alarm sound. We were giving Archie his last bottle of the evening when the alarm went off, we knew he was fine as he was guzzling away. We went on to work out what may of happened and on further inspection found that the sensor probe may have momentarily come away from his skin during feeding which if this happened a lot may get annoying. However the other option may have been that he could have held his breath for 15 seconds whilst he was busy feeding so the alarm sounded. Overall it wasn''t something that was a problem because it only happened that once while we were testing this product and it could have helped save his life if he had stopped breathing, and it was good to know the product would work when it was needed. The product may become bulky and get in the way when the baby got bigger and started to move around more, however then the product would be
needed less.
When talking to other mums about the product, they returned positive comments on the idea of the product.
Pros: Portable, Effective & Easy to use, Gives peace of mind to new mums
Cons: none
