Being Prepared When You Go Out With Baby

It’s not always as straight forward as making sure your baby has the right clothes on when you go out and about, and if you’re a new parent there is no harm in reading a little advice from people who have had children and know what to expect.  This is why we’ve take the time to give you a few hints and tips when it comes to packing your baby changing bag.

The baby changing bag

Do not be fooled by the name to begin with.  The baby changing bag is pretty much a bag for absolutely everything, and not just nappies and wipes.  You will need to make sure you get a good changing bag, with plenty of room to store your things.  There are often giveaways and various promotions that are marketed to parents when they have a baby, and these usually include changing bags; but sadly they are often of lesser quality and not nearly big enough.

Your baby changing bag should be able to accommodate all of the following items without any trouble at all, and still have a little room for the occasional treat for yourself.

  • Nappies
  • Wipes
  • Nappy bags
  • At least two changes of clothes, making sure you have enough layers etc
  • Bottles
  • Bottle warmer
  • Breast pump, in the event that you end up stuck out and need to use it
  • Baby changing mat
  • Bibs
  • Medicine (like infant Calpol etc)
  • Spoons and bowls etc (depending on how old your children are)
  • Tissues
  • Baby toys
  • Soothers

There is nothing worse than carrying multiple bags around with you when you have a baby to care for.  Basically you need to be able to throw one changing bag over your shoulder and have your arms free for the baby.

When you’re shopping for your baby changing bag, try to look for ones that come with changing mats and various other extras; there’s no harm in getting your money’s worth when it comes to your baby products.
